Page 3 Introduction Definition  The modern word ‘political’ derives from the Greek word polis, which means ‘city-state’.  The study of the state, government, and politics.  Political science -theory and practice of politics and political behavior.  Described as "who gets what, when and how“.

Page 4 History  Socrates 469 to 399 BC -Viewed democracy as tyranny of the majority on the minority. -Wrote the republic to construct an undemocratic ideal society.  Plato 427 to 347 BC -Oral Historian and Teacher. -His views known through works of Plato.  Aristotle 381 to 322 BC -Author of the Politics. -Based on the study of 158 constitutions of Greek city states.
