Parts of a Dragon Boat How many people can a dragon boat hold?

“Lock yourself in the boat”= to stablize yourself in the boat. This means push your hip against the side of the boat, the gunnle and stretch your legs in front of you. This will also help to balance the boat and paddle better with more power.

Top arm= arm inside the boat and the one holding the top of the paddle.

“Paddles Up”= get ready. Hold the blade of the paddle just above the water.

“TAKE IT AWAY”= START PADDLING “LET IT RIDE”= STOP PADDLING AND RELAX.

“Feather the Boat”= move the paddle around in the water like you are spreading butter. This motion helps to stablize the boat. “ Back paddle”= paddling backwards to move the boat backwards

Bench partner = the person you sit with. For safety reasons it’s important for you to know your partner’s name. Bench order= is the order in which you sit in the boat.

“HOLD THE BOAT”= THE BOAT. KEEP THE BLADE INSIDE THE WATER AND VERTICAL. “HARD HOLD” =KEEP THE BLADE IN THE WATER.
