Groups 3 – 12 have 1 to 2 valence electrons. Group 13 elements have 3 valence electrons. Groups 14 – 18 have 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 valence electrons, respectively. Group 3 through 12 elements do not follow the same pattern as the other groups!
