How to know when it is time to plant

“Every church can, and should, be a strategic player in the fulfillment of the Great Commission through starting and multiplying new congregations.” Robert Logan

“Those who drink the water must remember who dug the well”

4 Myths of When to Plant a Daughter Church 1. The myth of Attendance: Myth: Some people think you have to be a certain size to give birth. Truth: It’s your attitude toward daughter church planting and not your attendance that determines your readiness. “It’s not the size of the church, but the size of the church’s heart that makes the difference.”

2. The Myth Of Age: “The best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago. The next best time is now.” Myth: The older the Church, the better it is able To plant. Truth: The younger the Church, the more flexible and open it is to reproducing. 4 Myths of When to Plant a Daughter Church

3. The myth Of Acquisition: Myth: It is best to plant after relocating or finishing a building or purchasing some land. Truth: When we think of the building and the land to have a dynamic church, we are not thinking like the body of Christ, we are thinking like a building. 4 Myths of When to Plant a Daughter Church

4. The myth of Adequacy: Instead of looking for reasons to say “no,” look at all the reasons to say “yes.” Myth: It’s best to wait for the perfect time to birth a baby church. Truth: There is no perfect time to have a baby church. 4 Myths of When to Plant a Daughter Church

WHAT DOES A CHURCH NEED TO PLANT A DAUGHTER CHURCH?

1. A burden for lost people. “Our heart must be broken with the things that break the heart of God.” Matthew 9:36 “When he [Jesus] saw the crowds, he had compassion on them because they were harassed like sheep without a shepherd.” “In order for you to want to rescue the lost, you must believe first that they are.”

2. A willingness to step out in faith. “Living as Christ desires but simultaneously playing it safe is impossible. Faith presumes risk. What risks are you taking?” Jean Fleming

3. A vision for a region 4. A spiritual maturity 5. A generous spirit: “It is better to give than to receive” Acts 20:35 “True generosity isn’t an occasional event. It comes from the heart and permeates every aspect of a (church’s) life, touching (its) time, money, talents and possessions.” John Maxwell, The 21 Indispensable Qualities of a Leader, p A kingdom mindset

Conclusion The time is now, because the harvest is plentiful. The time is now, because the harvest is ready. The time is now, because we are in the last days. The time is now, because your church is the bride of Christ and any local church in a good relationship with Jesus will give birth to daughter churches.

A few of the 12 Biblical Principles that are applied in this lesson are: 2. THE POWER PRINCIPLE – Prayer is the indispensable source of God’s power and wisdom in each step of daughter church planting.

6. THE MISSION PRINCIPLE – The central work of the new church will always be to help people put their trust in Christ, and grow into maturity as His followers. A few of the 12 Biblical Principles that are applied in this lesson are:
