Year 5/6 Recreate the story!

Three Witches meet on a heath in Scotland

Two soldiers – Macbeth & Banquo –meet the witches and have their fortunes told: Macbeth will become Thane of Cawdor & King; Banquo’s sons will be Kings.

A messenger tells Macbeth that the King has made him Thane of Cawdor (as the witches prophesised).

Lady Macbeth learns of the witches prophecies in a letter from her husband.

King Duncan and his sons, Malcolm & Donalbain, arrive for a celebration at Macbeth’s castle.

Lady Macbeth persuades her husband to kill King Duncan.

Having killed King Duncan, Macbeth arrives carrying the two bloody daggers.

Lady Macbeth takes the daggers back to the King’s chamber and makes it look as if thee sleeping guards (whom she drugged) killed their King.

The murder is discovered by Macduff. Macbeth & Lady Macbeth act innocent, but Banquo is suspicious.

Banquo is murdered on Macbeth’s orders, but his son Fleance escapes.

At a royal banquet, Banquo’s ghost haunts Macbeth.

Macbeth returns to the witches. They tell him to beware Macduff but that he cannot be killed by “one of woman born”, and that he cannot be killed until “Birnam Wood comes to the castle”.

Macduff is in England, but his wife, children and servants are all killed on Macbeth’s orders.

News of his family’s massacre reaches Macduff in England.

Macbeth gets news that his wife, Lady Macbeth, has killed herself because of the guilt of plotting to kill King Duncan.

Meanwhile, Macduff’s soldiers approach Macbeth’s castle and disguise themselves using branches from Birnam Wood as camouflage.

Macbeth thinks he is invincible and kills many of Macduff’s soldiers.

Macduff challenges Macbeth. Macbeth says that he cannot be killed by anyone born of a woman.

Macduff, who was “ripped from hi mother’s stomach”, kills Macbeth.

Malcolm – King Duncan’s eldest son – is crowned King of Scotland.
