Reading in KS2 Generally by the time children reach KS2 they are starting to become confident, fluent readers. It might seem that they ‘can read’ but this is only the beginning…

Helping children to develop reading confidence Read often to your child and have fun Read without being distracted Read and reread stories Make predictions Enjoy the illustrations. Talk about the authors and illustrators Talk about characters, plot and setting Discuss preferences for authors and genres Discuss issues arising from the book and feelings and opinions about it.
