Birth and Death of Henry Ford Henry Ford was born in Greensfield Township, Michigan in 1863. He died in Fair Lane, Michigan in 1947.

Childhood and Education He organized other boys to build water wheels and steam engines. Learned more about steam engines by a man who ran them. Taught himself to fix watches, he used the watches to learn machine design. Demonstrated mechanical ability, a facility for leadership, and a performance for learning by trail-and-error. Inspired by his mother, who encouraged his interest in tinkering. From 1884 to 1885 he attended business college.

Family and Friends Married to Clara Ala Byrant in 1888. She died in September in 1950 Had one son, his name was Edsel Ford. His son was born in 1893, and died in 1943. He was good with friends with Thomas Edison, who was also his hero.

Henry Ford’s Personal Life He made an attempted to end WWI, before the United States was drawn into the war. During WWII he helped produce munitions for the war effort. 1901 Ford driving his own car, raced and beat what was then the world’s fastest automobile. 1903 he founded the Henry Ford Company and Ford Motor Company. 1909 he introduced the Model T, and in 1927 he stopped production of them. 1919 built River Rouge automobile plant. 1928 he introduced the Model A automobile. 1945 Henry Ford finally stepped down and retired from the Ford Motor Company.
