Ford is worshipped in Brave New World instead of God Phrases like “Oh Ford” and “Cleanliness is next to Fordliness” Brave New World strongly supports having something to believe in, and in the case that their world revolves around technology, they worship the man that revolutionized technology and industry They cut the tops off the cross to make them into “T”

Returned to farm work to support his family He was hired as an engineer at Edison Illuminating Company In 1893 he was promoted to chief engineer

He was 31 at the time Ran on a small ethanol engine with 4 bicycle wheels He sold it for $200

Built a race car in hopes to start a new company with the winnings He beats the top racecar driver of the era Starts up Ford Motor Company

9 Ford Motor Company An American multinational automaker headquartered in Dearborn, Michigan. Henry Ford established it in 1903 He introduced the model-T in 1908 Second largest U.S. automaker Employs around 250,000 people 90 facilities worldwide

Changed the way Americans lived, worked and traveled. Revolutionized transportation in America Henry Ford made the Model-T affordable for Americans Sold 15 million models Made reliably for tough roads (Since there was not very many paved roads)

Only one colour because of mass production 40-45 miles per hour Two forward gears and one reverse Often had to drive backwards to get up big hills (reverse gear was stronger than forward)

12 The Peace Ship 1915 mission to Europe
Brought a bunch of peace activists Hoped to end World War I It was mocked and called the ship of fools When they arrived in Norway Ford was ill They returned with no success

13 Death 1863-1947 Died at age 83, healthy. Retired only a year before
Turned over the company to his great grandson Henry Ford 2nd because he wanted to devote more time to personal interests
