Gilbert Stuart Gilbert Stuart made many good paintings including one of himself, done beautifully. Gilbert Stuart also painted the portrait of George Washington, the first president, John Adams, Abigail Adams the second president, and John Quincy Adams the sixth president, and also Thomas Jefferson the third president. He was born in December 3, 1755 and died July 9, 1828.

Thomas Cole Thomas Cole has made many beautiful paintings. Like The Past, and The Present. Thomas Cole also founded Hudson River School! Sold three paintings to George W. Bruen which financed a Hudson Valley trip! It seems to me like he likes to paint in twos (The Past and The Present) The Past The Present

Art and Paintings One painting I know of is Titian Ramsey Peale's Kilauea made in 1842, shown below. Another beautiful painting is the Portrait of Madame Récamier although it is not painted by an American I still appreciate it. Shown to the right.

More Paintings by Americans Next is the painter, Francisco Goya. He painted this painting, it is called Charles IV of Spain and His Family, oil paint on canvas. Shown here. That’s a big family.

Artwork and Artists. The painting you see below is called Coalbrookdale by Night (shown in the right corner) and is painted by Philip James de Loutherbourg, an English artist of French origin. He also made Defeat of the Spanish Armada. Shown in the left corner.

The Painting of George Cattermole, Lady Macbeth This painting is called Lady Macbeth Cattermole. I don’t exactly know what it is about and why she is there or why the man is in the bed. My guess is that he is sick. But she is from Shakespeare's Macbeth so there is a connection. You’ll have to read the book or see the play to under stand this painting.

John Hogan This is John Hogan plaque form. I don’t exactly know if he made this himself or another artist there. It is very realistic but I'm not sure what it is made out of but I do know that it sits in County Waterford, Ireland. Go see it for yourself.

Robert Scott Duncanson Robert Scott Duncanson painted this picture which is called Landscape with Rainbow. Didn't say when it was made and what it was made of, the common paint is oil on canvas.

The statue of General George Henry Thomas Made by John Quincy Adams Ward, this sculpture was made for the General George Henry Thomas from the Civil war. It now sits in Thomas Circle, Washington, D.C.

In Sickness and Health This was painted by Thomas Webster. This is called In Sickness and Health. He is a very interesting man. His father was a member of the household of George III for example. He painted this in 1843, oil on canvas. The painter lived on till He was 86 years old.
