Traits and Heredity Traits are observable characteristics that are passed down from parent to child. An individual’s overall combination of traits makes them unique. An equal number of traits are passed on from each parent.

Traits and Heredity Every organism inherits a unique combination of traits. DNA is a set of instructions that specifies the traits of an organism. Variations in the DNA lead to the inheritance of different traits. Inherited trait – an inherited trait is a quality passed directly from parent to offspring Acquired trait – acquired traits develop during the lifetime of an organism; these can be learned traits.
