Childhood  Jackie was born January 31, 1919 in Cairo, Georgia.  He was raised by a single mom. His father ran off with another woman after Jackie was born.

Family Life Jackie had a large family. His mom’s name was Mallie and his dad’s name was Jerry. His siblings names were Mathew, Frank, Edgar and Willie Mea. Jackie had a large family. Home  Jackie was born and raised in Cairo, Georgia.  John Muir High School, the High School he went to was also in Georgia, and still is.  Pasadena Junior College is and was also in Georgia.

Education Like I said before, he went to John Muir High School and Pasadena Junior College. In college he played four sports, football, basketball, track and baseball. He continued at the University of California, LA. Shortly before he was going to graduate, he had to leave because of financial issues.

After being kicked out of the university, he moved to Honolulu, Hawaii. There, he played for the semi-professional Honolulu Bears. The seasons was cut short when the US entered WW2. Pretty soon he got chosen to play for a white semi-pro team, the Montreal Royals.
