DA Sensor Web Enablement for In-Situ Observing Network Facilitation

Organizations Meraka Institute (Task Point and Lead) CSIR CSIRO NCAR University of Muenster University of Alabama

Activities A geospatial information infrastructure connecting heterogeneous in-situ sensors and remote sensors, shall be defined. This includes the definition and design of the Sensor Web Communication- and Information layers. The Task should evaluate the applicable standards for the application of a Sensor Web based approach for the different GEO SBAs To provide a mechanism to register and categorise Web services, a service registry shall be designed. Case studies shall be designed as demonstration projects for at least 3 SBAs Coordination shall be established with the Interoperability arrangements for GEOSS through cordination with Tasks AR and AR Relevant synergies with Tasks on information networks such as HE shall be addressed

Pilot Use Case WRON Extracting from use cases the required descriptions for sensors and/or sensor systems (including platforms). Sensor registries (from consumer markets to specialized scientific requirements). Reference architecture and its implementation (software instantiation), using OGC/SWE. Document relevant standards (ISO/TC 211, OGC, OASIS, IEEE, ISO/IEC JTC 1, etc).

GEO Assistance Gather data about sensors to populate registries with SensorML, GEO web team has agreed to assist with a web form Putting the sensor map on the GEO portal Pushing SensorML as a candidate standard
