About The Book Michael Arroyo grows up in the shadows of hallowed Yankee Stadium, a boy forever on the outside looking. His only chance to see his field of dreams? Pitch his Bronx all-star team to the finals and a shot at the Little League World Series. Baseball can be a game of heroes, of champions who refuse to lose. Or it can be a field of crushed dreams. For one boy, the game is about to turn very serious.

Problems Michael is good- too good. Rival coaches and players can’t believe a boy could be this good and be only twelve years old. And Michael has no way to prove it- no matter, no father, and a birth certificate that is stuck home in his native Cuba. If the people from social services find out his secret, he will have an even worse problem: being separated from the only family member he knows, his older brother Carlos.

Characters Michael- Michael is a twelve year old boy who plays little league baseball for The Clippers. His friend Manny says that he is the best player at every position on the field. He meets a girl named Ellie (who is the daughter of El Grande.) he ends up liking her. Manny- Manny is the catcher of The Clippers’ team. He is Michaels best friend. In my opinion he talks way to much. He is the one that comes up with some idea that keep Michael and his brother Carlos together. Ellie- Ellie is a girl that is the daughter of El Grande. All she wanted was some friends that would like her for who she is. So when she met Michael and Manny she new that they liked her for who she was. So she didn’t tell them that she was the daughter of El Grande. She loves baseball and is a really good pitcher also but she doesn’t play in any kind of game.

More Characters El Grande- He is the star pitcher for the Yankees. He is also the father of Ellie. He never answered any of the questions from the reporters in English. Also he never paid any attention to the people who wanted autographs and things like that. Carlos- Carlos is Michaels big brother. He is seventeen years old. He has or had two jobs so that he can keep Michael and himself fed and together. He almost goes to jail. He loses one of his jobs but never tells Michael that because he doesn’t want Michael to start to worry about it because he already has to much to worry about.

What I like About this book I liked how there was action in the book The problems are realistic I liked this book because it is mostly about baseball I liked this book because when Michaels family had some struggles they get resolved

Setting The setting takes place in new York city, New York. Michaels house Macomb Dam Park The Yankee’s Stadium
