Our Goals & ObjectivesOur Mission Statement The Caloosahatchee River Citizens Association (Riverwatch) was formed as a nonprofit organization in It has been dedicated to the protection of the River and its watershed, through education and promotion of the responsible use of the river for the enjoyment of all people. In recent years, CRCA- Riverwatch has expanded its outreach to the community. With over one hundred members, Riverwatch continues to grow and expand its mission and message in Southwest Florida. What it Means to You The Caloosahatchee River has a tremendous impact on SW Florida. The River contributes to the 2 billion dollar per year tourist industry. Whether people stop here to vacation or make Lee County their home, the Caloosahatchee has been a major attraction. If the river declines, it will have serious consequences for our economy and way of life. What You Can Do To improve the River from its source to its mouth, including its impacts on riparian and estuarine systems, wildlife habitat and marine life To promote public education concerning the historical significance, present condition and future of the River and its watershed To study the effect of domestic, commercial and agricultural uses of the River’s resources To monitor and work to improve the River’s water quality, quantity and flow characteristics. To observe and participate in the activities of public bodies responsible for the management of the River and its watershed. Riverwatch Meetings are held the first Wednesday of month at 6:30 pm at alternate locations in Fort Myers and LaBelle.
