Aims of the course Learn about the history of the 19 th century England against the background of literature and culture Develop the skills of reading 19 th century English literature and speaking about it Develop the skills of listening and writing in English

Prerequisites Interest in literature, history and culture Willingness to develop this interest English language skills ( B1 or higher)

Methodology The course will be a combination of lecture and discussion Discussions will be based on the extracts from the works of 19 th century writers (previous slide) studied at home We will also be using extracts from audio- books and watching scenes from the films based on the 19 th century books
