Presentation transcript:

We are learning about the polar habitat. The arctic is cold and has a lot of snow in the winter. The coldest recorded temperature in the Arctic is around -90°F. In the summer, some snow may melt and this is called the tundra. You can see flowers and plants.

The arctic is located on the top of the earth. It is called the north pole.

Some plants that live in the polar habitat are yellow arctic poppy, purple campanulas, and purple saxifrage.

Some animals that live in the polar habitat are harp seals, polar bears, and walruses.

One animal to animal interaction is when the arctic fox is hungry it will follow the polar bear and eat its leftovers.

Interesting facts are the polar habitats have just two seasons of summer and winter (but even summer is normally very cold). In the summer, it is light for 24 hours a day (right at the north and south poles, the sun doesn’t set for six whole months when it is summer)and in the winter it is dark for 24 hours a day.
