Education in Poland

Education in Poland includes kindergarten, elementary schools, middle schools, secondary schools, post-secondary education, artistic and other educational institutions.

Kindergarten To attend preschool children have to be from 3 to 6 years old, and in special cases, from 2.5 years. Children of 5 years and 6 years old attend compulsory preschool education..

Elementary school A six-year school is divided into two three-year phases. At the first stage - in classes I-III for children aged (7-10 years) - Early education is implemented. In classes IV-VI training takes place in the framework of subjects taugh by teachers-specialists. One of the teachers serves as a tutor. Subjects taught at this stage are: Polish, English, German, history and society, mathematics, music, art, inofrmation technology, religion, physical education, design and technology, nature and education for family life. In class VI students are requiredt to take the test, which is the same for all students, to check their level of knowledge and skills.

Middle school The three-year lower secondary school or junior high school is a new type of school for young people aged years. The students are taught ingeneral education and study the following subjects: Polish language and literature, English, German, physics, history, society, biology, chemistry, music, art, geography, maths, physical education, information technology, design and technology. Education in the middle school ends with an examination, which usually takes place in April and concerns the third grade students. The exam consists of three parts: the humanities, mathematics and natural sciences, and foreign languages.

Secondary schools Vocational schools last not less than two years and not more than three years and gives students vocational qualifications diploma after they have passed the exams. Secondary schools, which last 3 years and gives students school leaving certificates after they have passed the secondary school leaving examinations called „matura exam” Technical secondary schools, which last 4 years and give students vocational qualifications diploma and secondary schools laving certificates after they have passed the final school leaving exams (either vocational or general or both)

Supplementary general schools for secondary school graduates last 2 years and give students certificates after they have passed the matura exam. Special schools which last 3 years and educate mentally handicapped students and students with other disabilities, which give them a certificate of adoption to work.

Universities We have post secondary education which means either colleges or univerisities. We can get there bachelor's degree and after it we can get Master's degree or Phds.

Our school grades system: The highest grade in our school is six, after that is 5, four, three, two and the worst grade is one. The highest grade from behaviour is excellent, very good, good, proper, inappropriate, exceptionable.
