 Location – India is a diamond – shaped country located in southern Asia .

 Much of the country is a peninsula that stretches into the Indian Ocean.  Peninsula – Land that has water on three of its sides

 India is 1,269,346 square miles.  Most of which is a low-lying flat plain

 India is also home to the Himalayan Mountains in the north

 The Himalayan Mountains are one of the biggest ranges in the world.  The Himalayan Mountains crosses six countries: Bhutan, Tibet, India, Nepal, Pakistan, and Afghanistan.

 The Himalayas are home to Mt. Everest…the worlds largest mountain.  Mt. Everest is 29,035 feet about sea level which may not seem big but trust me it is…

 The Hindu Kush Mountains that stretch across Pakistan and Afghanistan.

 India’s highest point is Kanchenjunga Mountain  28,208 above sea level

 Capital City – New Delhi

 Other large cities…  Mumbai

 As of 2001 India's population was 1,029,991,145

 To put this in perspective the United States population is 350,000,000  India is OVER POPULATED!
