LANDP LANDP on Linux | Web Lecture © 2002 IBM Corporation The aim of this Web Lecture  Demonstrate LANDP for Linux;  Show steps required to migrate to LANDP for Linux;  Gain a basic understanding of LANDP for Linux; and  Give you an opportunity to ask questions.

LANDP LANDP on Linux | Web Lecture © 2002 IBM Corporation LANDP supports Linux…  … as a workstation within a LANDP workgroup!  The product is installed onto Windows and OS/2 platforms only.

LANDP LANDP on Linux | Web Lecture © 2002 IBM Corporation LANDP supports Linux…  32 bit Intel-based Linux Systems  Kernel Level support 2.4  Glibc library support 2.2  Tested against conforming versions of: Red Hat; SuSE; TurboLinux; and Caldera Systems

LANDP LANDP on Linux | Web Lecture © 2002 IBM Corporation Features provided by LANDP for Linux  Services: Supervisor and LANDP Internet Protocol transport mechanism (EHCLIP); Financial Device Servers; Communications Servers; Data Management Servers; and System Management Servers.  Application Development: C/C++ Java  Migration: Virtual DOS machine Relay – requires DOSEMU

LANDP LANDP on Linux | Web Lecture © 2002 IBM Corporation Post-Distribution Distribution Customization Preparing LANDP for Linux Valspec Network Drive Diskette Local Hard Drive Getting Create SPC files Genrun ehcsetup Set up environment Ready to use OS/2 or WindowsLinux

LANDP LANDP on Linux | Web Lecture © 2002 IBM Corporation LANDP set up on Linux  ehcsetup Performs several necessary steps: Directory creation; User creation; Environment set up file (.ehc_profile); Must be run by a super user, normally root.  Typical directory structure, as created by ehcsetup. /opt/ ibm/ landp/ l60/- LANDP Release directory bin/- LANDP Binaries lib/- LANDP Shared Objects/Libraries msg/- LANDP Messages S1/- LANDP Workstation directory

LANDP LANDP on Linux | Web Lecture © 2002 IBM Corporation LANDP set up on Linux  Groups and Users Linux uses groups and users to manage access to resources. LANDP for Linux requires all users, that will use LANDP, to belong to the landp group to gain access to LANDP resources. On Linux a user can belong to many groups. When loading LANDP the user’s primary group must be landp. .ehc_profile Created by ehcsetup. Contains statements to set environment variables: PATH, LIB and so on. We recommend that each user’s profile calls.ehc_profile.

LANDP LANDP on Linux | Web Lecture © 2002 IBM Corporation Migrate to Linux  Three main building blocks of migration: LANDP Workgroup Configuration Customer, and third party, Software Customer Data

LANDP LANDP on Linux | Web Lecture © 2002 IBM Corporation Migrate to Linux  LANDP Workgroup Configuration Update SPC files, COMMON, LANCONF Run Valspec and Genrun Distribute to ‘temporary’ location Run ehcsetup Set environment (.ehc_profile) autofbss

LANDP LANDP on Linux | Web Lecture © 2002 IBM Corporation LANDP for Linux Demonstration  Migrate a 2 workstation, S1 and C1, workgroup: Windows Platform; NetBIOS; Shared File Server on S1; SVPCPRBN; and EHCTRACW.  Demonstrates: Changes required to configuration files; ehcsetup – post distribution steps; and SVPCPRB on Linux (SVPCPRBL).

LANDP LANDP on Linux | Web Lecture © 2002 IBM Corporation Recap  LANDP Version 6 provides support for Linux  When migrating your configuration: Update paths defined in SPC files. Update LANCONF to: reflect the correct workstation type; use the TCP/IP transport (XPORT keyword); and obtain the correct user defined software packages.  When running your LANDP for Linux configuration: The user’s primary group must be LANDP; and The environment must be correct, use.ehc_profile,
