TASK Weather and climate are the forces of nature that dictate where and how people live. The weather influences what we wear, what we do, how we do it and where we go. Very often the weather even influences how we feel! Sometimes extreme weather events happen. Usually people are endangered or even killed during these extreme weather events. Sometimes these events can be predicted, and people are prepared for them, but more often they are not! Task: Choose an extreme weather event and design an information pamphlet or web-page giving young people relevant information, strategies and tips on how to keep safe and survive such an event © Calliope V Kennedy 2013

Sub-task 2: 1.Read the task by yourself. Then read the task again as a group. 2.In pairs use a highlighter to highlight all the KEY WORDS and PHRASES in the task. Why do you think those are the key words or phrases? 3.Using the SEVEN SERVANTS and the KEY WORDS and PHRASES write out as many questions as you can think of. 4.Use the chart on slide 18 to sort your questions into useful for completing the given task or not useful. 5.Research your questions and make notes. © Calliope V Kennedy 2013

Discuss. 5.How could the information be presented more attractively for young people? What could the site designers have done better?
