GENERAL DEFINITIONS Prospect: someone who has started classes for the ninth grade Off-Campus Recruiters: must have passed the annual NCAA Recruiting Test before being certified to recruit off-campus Contact Period: in-person, off-campus contacts and evaluations are allowed Evaluation Period: off-campus evaluations only; no contacts allowed Quiet Period: only permissible to have contact on-campus; no in-person, off-campus contacts or evaluations Dead Period: no recruiting contacts or evaluations on-campus or off-campus

RECRUITING MATERIALS High School Freshmen & Sophomores: A coach may only send a questionnaire, a letter explaining the rules, a referral to admissions, and a camp brochure. They may write to college coaches as much as they like High School Juniors & Seniors: Starting June 15 before the junior year, college coaches may send recruiting materials. Electronic media may be included, but not video.

TELEPHONE CALLS & TEXT MESSAGES High School Freshmen & Sophomores: College coaches may not telephone or text prospects – not even to return a call from a prospect or parents. They may make calls to coaches as often as they like. High School Juniors & Seniors: Starting June 15 before the junior year, college coaches may telephone and text prospects. There are no restrictions on the number of calls/texts.

ELECTRONIC TRANSMISSIONS All electronic transmissions must be sent directly to the prospect Exception: after NLI signing, correspondence may be public (e.g., Tweets) No use of chat rooms, message boards, posts to “walls” Electronic transmissions may not include animation, audio, or video clips No texts (or phone calls) to prospect during Lindenwood games.

OFF-CAMPUS CONTACTS High School Freshmen & Sophomores: No off-campus contact with prospect or parents other than a brief exchange that does not exceed a greeting High School Juniors & Seniors: Starting June 15 before the junior year in high school, college coaches are allowed off- campus contacts with prospects and their parents

CONTACT RESTRICTIONS At prospect’s school: Must receive permission from school prior to having contact during school day At practice or competition site: No contact until after competition is complete and prospect has been released by coach May talk to parents of contactable prospects (in contact period) May talk to prospect on days without competition during a multi-day tournament

TRYOUTS Timing of Tryouts For prospects after June 15 of their sophomore year, allows tryouts to occur at any time outside of a prospect’s traditional playing season. “Traditional playing season” starts with the first official team practice and concludes with the high school team's final competition. Two-Year Transfers: After conclusion of season or eligibility exhausted Four-Year Transfers: After conclusion of sport season and permission to contact is granted

TRYOUTS One tryout per institution per sport 2 hour limit Required Paperwork: Physical Dated within 6 months Conducted by MD Full physical form, not just statement Sickle Cell Form Tryout Form Liability Waiver

UNOFFICIAL VISITS On-campus visit made at prospect’s expense Unlimited in number Complimentary admissions: up to 3 Transportation to view practice and competition sites in prospect’s sport One meal allowed on or off campus for prospect and relatives

OFFICIAL VISITS Now allowed June 15 th preceding their Junior year in High School One official visit per school No limit on number of official visits 48-hour visit period Visit starts when prospect arrives at institution

OFFICIAL VISITS Student Host: Provided $30/day; $15/day for additional prospect Complimentary Admission: Up to 3 for prospect and those accompanying prospect on visit Meals: Now allowed to cover all costs of meals Lodging: For prospect within 30 miles of campus Transportation: May pay actual cost of round-trip transportation for the prospect May only pay for prospect's airfare May pay mileage rate for automobile transportation Certified coach may also transport prospect to and from campus for visit

OFFICIAL VISITS Required Paperwork Before the Visit Pre-Approval Form and… Current Transcript including classes enrolled in. Registered with the NCAA if a HS prospect.

LINDENWOOD REQUIREMENTS Official or Unofficial Visit form must be filled out minimum of 48 hours prior to the visit. (found on J drive). Visit must be approved through Compliance and Sport Supervisor before it is confirmed with prospect. Entertainment monies requested for more than four people must be submitted 7 business days prior to the recruitment visit. Reimbursement forms must be submitted within one week of the visit, including the approved visit form.

LINDENWOOD REQUIREMENTS Document recruiting: especially first three phone calls in CA, contact, evaluation, visits. Log first phone call and date entered into CA on the monthly call log Post recruiting calendars for your reference Plan ahead for visits: have them register with the NCAA and have transcripts evaluated After visits, turn in recruiting paperwork within 1 week
