Socratic Seminar #1 Stand up! Find Your Shoulder Partner and say, “Don’t Leave me!” Partner A is the person with the person with the most pockets. Partner B will find a seat in the inside circle. Partner A will find a seat in the outside circle, close to their partner.

Socratic Seminar #1 Outside circle, fill in the heading of the Scoring Guide. Be sure to listen carefully. You may NOT check a box if you do not observe your partner doing the activity. I will be watching too. If you check an Advanced activity, you must note what they did next to the bullet if your partner is to get credit.

Socratic Seminar #1 Inner Circle, remember, you are in charge of the seminar. I will observe. There is ABSOLUTELY no talking unless you are contributing to the seminar. If you break this rule you will be removed from the seminar and receive a “0” for today’s presentation. Listen carefully, respond thoughtfully, and stay on topic. Use the “Bounce Cards” and the posters for help.

Socratic Seminar #1 Remember, you are in charge of the seminar. I will observe. Inside circle, the first part of the seminar will last 8 minutes. You will then have 2 minutes to conference with your partner so that you may get ideas and add more to the discussion. Your discussion will continue for 5 more minutes. Time to debrief and switch!
