FL MIECHV STATE CQI TEAM April 27, 2015

Today’s Agenda Attendance/Welcome new team members Review of a Breakthrough Series (BTS) Learning Collaborative (LC) Progress on planning for the LC Elicit input on decisions to be made for the LC Questions regarding LC, CQI Teams, CQI Plans and other CQI activities

FL MIECHV State CQI Team Mission Statement: Create a culture of quality using data to improve home visiting services and programs for Florida families and communities.

Introductions Dr. Judi Vitucci, Improvement Advisor Katie Hood, Project Coordinator Allison Parish, Senior Manager

BTS Learning Collaboratives The Breakthrough Series is designed to help organizations close the gap between what we know and what we do. It is a short-term learning experience that brings together a large number of teams seeking improvement in a focused topic area. The structure allows organizations to more easily learn from each other and from recognized experts.

BTS Learning Collaboratives Key elements of the Breakthrough Series include the following: Topic Selection Faculty Recruitment Enrollment of Participating Organizations and Teams Learning Sessions Action Periods: Teams conduct tests using The Model for Improvement

The Model for Improvement

Update on FL MIECHV LC Narrowed down to DV; to include screening, referrals and safety planning Staff attended the Institute for Healthcare Improvement’s Breakthrough Series College Selected LC faculty who will participate in orientation on Wednesday  Florida Coalition Against Domestic Violence (Brandy Carlson)  CDC National Center for Violence Prevention (Dr. Joanne Klevens)  UF College of Law IPV Assistance Clinic (Teresa Drake)  USF Harrell Center for Study of Family Violence (Dr. Marti Coulter)  PAT National Center (Allison LaMont)

LS Objectives Allow staff from each team to meet other teams; encourage contact after LS Refresher on PDSA testing and additional CQI tips/techniques Receive training and technical assistance from content experts Generate the will, stimulate ideas, equip teams with the ability to execute the activities needed to improve

Planning for the Learning Session (LS) LS Dates: two days during last week of July LS Location: Tampa, unless we can’t find the right space Who from outside of MIECHV sites can assist with pre-planning (if needed) and/or on-site?

Planning for the Learning Session (LS) LS Topics for CQI and DV (What do staff need to know?) Format preference: Plenary vs. Breakout; Division of staff Sponsors for food?

Planning for Action Period 1 Frequency of webinars Communicating updates on CQI progress Ideas for communicating what is learned with the home team Requiring all staff to take two-day DV training? Timeframe?

What happens between now and LS1? Local CQI Plans are due April 30. These should include the CQI Teams members. Some or all of the CQI Team plus, ideally, a representative from the local DV center will register for LS1. There will be a web conference for all teams to go over the details and expectations. DV faculty will review and finalize the change package and related documents.

Other Topics What else can the State CQI Team do to support sites? Should we hold any webinars or technical assistance sessions for other topics (e.g. developmental screening and referrals)? If so, when? What else can our staff do to support you?

QUESTIONS?
