A Summary of the Day 5. Team Building Exercise Willie Gibson (PSN/WIG) provided a scenario, asking the attendees to provide answers as an individual and then as a team The results concluded that problems are usually solved better as a group than as an individual. People where asked to consider this outcome and to relate it to the workplace and hopefully the prevention of accidents

A Summary of the Day 6. When It Doesnt Go To Plan Roy Boag (HSE Regulatory Inspector) provided images of accidents that could have been prevented Some examples provided a lot of amusement but on a serious side it also highlighted how accidents could so easily of been prevented and the things people can do which borders on the ridiculous These examples reminded everyone that accidents are waiting to happen and everyone has a part to play to prevent them

A Summary of the Day 7. Group Discussion - Some of the subjects raised and discussed included: More Safety Representative intervention Safety Meetings Two Tier system still exists The competence of some workers including lack of being able to communicate Succession Training - Training essential for supervisors including leadership training, apprenticeship themes, refresher training for safety reps How do we get the best out people
