Berlin, the capital of germany Germany is a country of the European union and it has more than 81 million people. The capital of Germany is Berlin, its surface area is 900 km ² and it has 3,5 million people. Berlin is the biggest city of Germany and it was constructed in the seventeenth century. The public green areas make Berlin a green city. People can visit the forest of Grunewald, the park of the castle of Charlottenburg etc... Berlin is a sports metropolis, it has 700 athletes who train in 35 disciplines The Berlin sports clubs are known all over Germany and Europe

The wall of Berlin After May 8th, 1945, Germany was divided into four zones. A Soviet, American, British and French zone. Berlin is also divided into four zones. In 1948, the collaboration of the four countries ended and in 1949, Stalin was responsible for the blockade of Berlin. In 1949, the Federal Republic of Germany (RFA) and the German Democratic Republic were formed. In August 1961, the wall of Berlin or the wall of shame was constructed by the German Democratic Republic because peoples from the GDR went to the RFA. East Berlin and West Berlin were then separated by the Iron Curtain. However in 1989, the Soviets were weak, and this caused the fall of the Berlin Wall. This marked the reunification of Germany

Culture Berlin is noted for its numerous cultural institutions, many of which enjoy international reputation. The city has a very diverse art scene and is home to around four hundred & twenty art galleries

Performing arts Berlin has three opera houses : the Deutsche Oper, the Berlin State Opera, and the Komische Oper. There are seven symphony orchestras in Berlin.
