Meaning of Editing Editing means modifying the contents & location of data in worksheet. Editing consists of  Editing Cell Contents.  Moving Data  Copying Data  Inserting Cells, Columns or Rows  Deleting Cells, Columns or Rows  Undo & Redo

Editing Cell Contents It means changing or modifying the existing text. By selecting the cell & typing the data will overwrite the existing data. There are no. of methods which are used to change contents of cell. These methods are as follows :  Double click on the cell & cursor will start blinking in cell which indicates data entry mode.  Click the cell & press F2 key. The cursor will start blinking in cell.

Editing Contd..  Click the cell & click on formula bar. User can use cursor movement keys or mouse to move the cursor and type the data at desired position. After editing press Enter or Tab key to make changes permanent.

Moving Data It means changing the location of data Methods are :  Using Cut & Paste Button : 1. Select the cell or range you want to move. 2. In the Clipboard group on the Home tab, click the Cut button. 3. Select the cell or upper-left cell of the range where contents are to be moved. 4. In the Clipboard group, click the Paste button.  By Dragging : 1. Select Cells. 2. Point to border of selected cells. 3. Drag border outline to new location & release mouse button.

Moving Contd..  By Shortcut Menu : 1. Select Cells. 2. Right click the selection & a shortcut menu appears. 3. Click Cut. 4. Select destination cell. 5. Right Click the selection & Click Paste.

Copying Data It means creating a copy of data. Methods are :  Using Copy & Paste Button : 1. Select the cell or range you want to copy. 2. In the Clipboard group on the Home tab, click the Copy button. 3. Select the cell or upper-left cell of the range where contents are to be copied. 4. In the Clipboard group, click the Paste button.  By Dragging : 1. Select Cells. 2. Point to border of selected cells. 3. Press Ctrl Key & Drag border outline to new location. Release mouse button.

Copying Contd..  By Shortcut Menu : 1. Select Cells. 2. Right click the selection & a shortcut menu appears. 3. Click Copy. 4. Select destination cell. 5. Right Click the selection & Click Paste.  Copy to several cells by dragging fill handle: 1. Select Cell. 2. Point to Fill Handle. A crosshair appears. 3. Drag crosshair to extend border over adjacent cells to fill. 4. Release mouse button.

Inserting Cells, Columns, Rows Methods are : Using Home Tab : 1.Select cells. 2.Click on drop down arrow under Insert button in Cells group. A pop-up menu appears. 3.Select desired options to insert Cells, Rows or Columns.

Inserting Contd.. Methods are : Using Shortcut Menu : 1.Select Cells. 2.Right Click on it. A pop-up menu appears. 3.Click Insert option. Insert Dialog Box appears. 4.Select direction where existing cells to be shifted. 5.Click OK.

Deleting Cells, Columns, Rows Methods are : Using Home Tab : 1.Select cells. 2.Click on drop down arrow under Delete button in Cells group. A pop-up menu appears. 3.Select desired options to delete Cells, Rows or Columns.

Deleting Contd.. Methods are : Using Shortcut Menu : 1.Select Cells. 2.Right Click on it. A pop-up menu appears. 3.Click Delete option. Delete Dialog Box appears. 4.Select desired option. 5.Click OK.

Undo & Redo Undo : To reverse changes, undo command is used. Methods are :  Click on undo button on Quick Access Toolbar. or  Press Ctrl+Z. Redo : It is used to reverse the action by undo. Methods are :  Click on redo button on Quick Access Toolbar. or  Press Ctrl+Y.
