Other wise known as the CCCA CHRISTIAN CAMP AND CONFERENCE ASSOCIATION

MISSION / OBJECTIVE We believe there is no more effective way to impact the lives of children and adults than the ministry of Christian camping. For almost 50 years, CCCA has been providing valuable resources, education and training and affirming community to equip Christian camps and conference centers to fill more camp beds and provide an experience every camper or guest can benefit from—often in life-changing ways.

HISTORICAL BACKGROUND In 1963, Pennsylvania passed the Community College Act, providing the legal framework for the establishment of community colleges in the commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The Allegheny County Board of School Directors voted to ask Allegheny County to be the local sponsor and a plan was submitted to the state. In May 1965, the “People’s Bond Issue,” requesting Allegheny County residents to approve funding for a community college, passed with 66% of the vote. Six months later, the Pennsylvania State Board of Education unanimously approved Allegheny County’s application for the founding of a community college. CCAC–South Campus was then established in 1967 and CCAC–North Campus was established in Five neighborhood centers also serve as satellite facilities: Bethel Park, Braddock Hills, Homewood-Brushton, West Hills Center in Oakdale and Washington County centers. The college also maintains an ever-growing online learning presence, with six degrees, eight certificates and hundreds of courses available online.

MEMBERSHIP Experience the value and substance of the educational tracks that will inspire and energize your entire staff. Plus, gain ideas and discuss strategies with people who have been in camping for decades, and talk with your ministry’s vendors and service providers in the exhibit hall at the National Conference. Attending the CCCA National Conference will prove to be a terrific investment, even months after the event is over. CCCA works with corporate and contract services to offer your ministry buying power that would not be possible alone. Plus, you have access to the Web’s largest directory of Christian camps so you—and those who want to find a camp—can search for camps that best meet their needs. You’ll have unlimited and free access to the CCCA Job Board, too. With savings like these, you could even hire another staff member, add to your building fund, or offer more scholarships to kids in need.

PAST ACCOMPLISHMENTS On July 3, 2007, CCAC met with the staff of Federal Representative Anna Eshoo to discuss a waiver to discontinue the use of chloramine and return to the use of chloramine until health studies are done. Her staff initiated a congressional research service investigation which confirmed the lack of health studies. They set up a September 5 meeting between CCAC president Denise Johnson-Kula and the California State EPA on the matter of the waiver. CCAC gave a presentation on chloramine to U.S. Representative Tom Lantos and his staff on August 30, CCAC also met with the staffs of Representative Zoe Lofgren on September 11, Representative Ellen Tauscher on September 17, Representative Pete Stark on September 19, and Representative Mike Honda on September 24.

TODAY’S OBJECTIVE / GOALS Meet the criteria established in the MSCHE publication Characteristics for Excellence in Higher Education. Evaluate and measure the effectiveness of the college’s planning process, and make recommendations for changes where the process is incomplete. Measure institutional integrity at all levels of Characteristics. Pool, coordinate, and evaluate the dissemination of information available at Institutional Research, at the new ARC (AdministrativeReportCenter) website, and other sources so faculty and staff have ready access to research and data that will allow them to improve educational effectiveness. Test the effectiveness and reliability of qualitative data when insufficient quantitative data is available to measure educational effectiveness in particular disciplines, programs, and courses. Evaluate the propriety and efficiency of the use of resources throughout the college system, both in fiscal and human terms.
