Presentation transcript:

The main character in a work of literature—the character who is involved in the central conflict of the story. Usually, the protagonist changes after the central conflict reaches a climax. He or she may be a hero and is usually the one with whom the audience tends to identify. Who is the protagonist in “The Most Dangerous Game?”

Antagonist A principal character or force in opposition to the protagonist, or main character. The antagonist is usually another character but sometimes can be a force of nature, set of circumstances, some aspect of society, or a force within the protagonist. Who is the antagonist in “The Most Dangerous Game?”

Character Foil A character who contrasts another character (usually the protagonist) in order to highlight particular qualities of the other character. Who is the character foil in “The Most Dangerous Game?”

Ticket Out: 1.) Apply your knowledge of imagery to compose a description of that person. 2.) Who is the protagonist of your family story? Who is the antagonist? 3.) Who is the character foil? Is it the same person as the antagonist? 4.) Take one character in your family to analyze. What are his/her traits? What makes that person uniquely them? 5.) If you could pick your family, would you?
