PYP Inquiry Exhibition Welcome! Please find your child’s folder and have a seat.

What is the PYP Inquiry Exhibition? This is a project that requires your child to combine the essential elements of the PYP and share with the whole school community. The students are required to participate in a collaborative, transdisciplinary inquiry process that involves them identifying, investigating, and offering solutions to real-life issues or problems.

Inquiry Theme: How We Organize Ourselves An exploration of: o human systems and communities o the world of work, its nature, and its value o employment and unemployment and their impact on us and the world around us

Our Central Idea Individuals and groups connect and organize to solve problems.

An Inquiry Into: There are problems faced by various communities in developed and undeveloped countries. We will investigate the groups and projects, which organize to help solve these problems. The topic (the specific organization) chosen by your child should be a real world issue or problem, local or global.

So many organizations... Although we know that many of our students have genuine compassion for animals, we are encouraging students to look beyond that There are so many organization and individuals that we would like them to be aware of...

Global and Local Examples... We have provided a list of some local and global organizations in your child’s folder Your child is to be creative and reach out with this project, so it is important that he/she choose an organization that he/she is interested

PYP Inquiry Mentors and Mentees Your child’s project will be done at home Each child will be assigned a specific mentor (I.B. teacher or specials teacher at Streams) Your child will meet with his/her mentor every few weeks The mentor will provide feedback and assignments for your child to work on at home Each mentor report requires teacher, student, and parent signatures Don’t forget to check on your child’s progress by viewing the mentor reports and providing a signature

PYP Inquiry Project Timeline Your child’s fourth Mentor Meeting is on March 31 o Research should be COMPLETE! o Bring the research to share with the mentor Your child’s fifth Mentor Meeting is on April 7 o Your child should bring ideas on the way that he/she would like to present the research ( tri-fold, PowerPoint, iPad...be creative!) o Students should be prepared to present their projects to their mentor’s class and their homeroom class next week!
