Trailguide Teachers Mary Hull

Teachers are: Experienced A trail guide must know the area they are exploring very well in order to safe a safe, successful trip. Likewise, certified teachers have been through the schooling system, student teaching, and other various classroom environments. Trail guides as well as teachers are in charge of their hikers and students for the time on the trail or in the classroom.

Teachers are: Passionate Trail guides, like teachers are passionate about their work. It takes a true love for the wilderness to make a career, or even a summer, out of hiking just as it takes someone truly passionate about teaching to inspire education.

Teachers are: Caring Both teachers and trail guides are responsible for the well being of their hikers and students for whatever time they are together. A good trail guide stops when their hikers are tired or hungry, a good teacher makes sure everyone understands before moving on.

The Students: The students are the hikers that follow the trail guide. They are less experienced than the guide, they have probably never been to the location that the guide is showing them. Because of this, the students must listen to the teacher and follow instruction to succeed.
