Students are expected to  come to class on time with materials, homework, and current work.  follow classroom routines and rules.  complete class work and homework on time.  see the teacher for any work missing work especially after an absence.  respect classmates and teacher.  work to the best of their abilities.

We teach that  reading is a model for writing.  the writing process is critical.  conventions and grammar greatly impact writing.

Sixth grade units of study may include Personal Narrative Persuasive Essay Informational Essay Literary Essay Test Taking Strategies Playwriting

 In every unit, students will focus on › sentence structure › capitalization › punctuation › spelling › word choice

 Writer’s notebook entries  Drafting work  Revision and editing work  Grammar work  Publishing

 Students will be graded on the following: › Writing Work › Word Work (grammar and conventions) › Tests and Quizzes › Homework › Class Work

 Check the quality of your child’s work.  Check to see that your child has the supplies and materials s/he needs.  Check the planner.  Make sure the binder is organized.  Sign graded work, quizzes, and tests.
