Social trins Grooming session for 11AS,11ISC,11DP STUDENTS Social trins Grooming session for 11AS,11ISC,11DP STUDENTS “There is no existence without coexistence” “There is no existence without coexistence”

Teaching communicative English in local Lower Primary schools: Grade 11 students spend a total of two hours in a week to go to the local lower primary Malayalam medium schools and teach communicative English to the children studying in classes one to five.

Training at TRINS for the selected best out going students from the local schools: During the month of April every year, 20 best outgoing students from the local schools will be given opportunity to be at Trins for two weeks. Teachers and senior school students will help them in Mathematics, English, IT, Music and swimming.

Monthly rice collection mission The staff and students at TRINS contribute rice as per their capacity every month and groups of students from different classes pays visits the palliative care centre at Neendakara, Chavara at the outskirts of Kollam district and donate rice to the patients over there directly.

Oats and Horlicks on birthdays Students at TRINS offer oats, nutritional powders, milk powders etc to the terminally ill cancer patients and thus they mark their birth days with a palliative touch.

Social Service month Gandhiji’s birth month, October is a month of social service for TRINS. Various activities are organized during the month to make the students more committed and concerned on social issues

Tenner -a -Task Students are encouraged to do simple household chores and thus they earn money from their parents and relatives for the entire month of October. This is a fund raising activity for charity.

Food Fair Food Fair is yet another fund raising activity for charity. Students and teachers from K-12 bring various food items and which will be sold during the Fair.

Collection of Old Clothes During the month, they also donate their used dress for the cause of charity, which is capable of blooming smiles in the faces of the underprivileged.

Visits to orphanages, hospitals and other charitable institutions We arrange visits to different orphanages, old age homes, special schools etc in which the whole TRINS are involved.

Helping them being healthy The inmates of Ashabhavan [Rehabilitation home for the mentally ill women] are being given the tooth pastes and tooth brushes every 3 months.

Sponsor the selected under privileged students Teachers also actively take part in the social service activities by making a regular monthly contribution towards charity. This money will be used for sponsoring the underprivileged students in the local schools

Speeches by eminent people we arrange talks by personalities who are well-known in the field of serving the society

Medicine Bank Students and teachers bring sample medicines and the same is being sent to the tribal people in Attappadi, Palakkad district.

Helping the AIDS affected children As a responsible student community, students of Trivandrum International School extended their helping hands to the AIDS affected children in the district.

Infra-structure development for local schools Out of the money raised through the various fund raising activities in the school, Trins is providing regular help to the local schools in the form of infra-structure every year

Concluding Note….. Thus Social Service at TRINS is an year long activity. This is really a window and solace to the real world…a world of sufferings, cries, pain, helplessness, and solitude. These variety of community service programs helps in the development of attitude and values.
