Thank you for joining the Big Share! Let’s take a look at some popular food from around the world.

Nicaragua is in Central America. The capital city is Managua. Nicaragua

Nicaragua is the biggest country in Central America. It has two beautiful freshwater lakes as well as a chain of volcanoes. Nicaragua

In Nicaragua coffee, bananas, sugarcane, cotton, rice and corn are grown and sold as popular exports.

Did you know…? Nicaragua Around 40% of the population live in poverty. Around 70% of the population living in rural areas find it hard to have basic things like food and housing. Do you think this is FAIR?

CAFOD has worked in Nicaragua for over 40 years. We work with partners to help communities have food, water and safe housing. Nicaragua

Mozambique Mozambique is in Southern Africa. The capital city is Maputo.

Mozambique’s climate is dry with low rainfall but in recent years floods have destroyed their land. Mozambique

Mozambique exports thousands of tonnes of prawns to Europe!

Only 43% of the population have access to safe water. Half of the population age 15 and above can read and write. Do you think this is FAIR? Did you know…? Mozambique

We work with partners to help communities to rebuild after floods, grow food and work to help children complete their education. Mozambique CAFOD has been working in Mozambique since 1983.

Cambodia is in South East Asia. The capital city is Phnom Penh. Cambodia

Cambodia is a country full of natural beauty. Cambodia

In the markets of Phnom Penh you can buy everything from fresh fish from the nearby Mekong River, to fried spiders! Cambodia

Around 4 in 10 people do not have access to clean water. Forests cover over half of Cambodia, but trees are being chopping down in many areas. Did you know…? Cambodia

We work with partners to help communities grow their own food, and have access to safe water in the future. CAFOD has been working in Cambodia since Cambodia

Peru is in South America. The capital city is Lima. Peru

Peru has beautiful landscapes from mountains and beaches to deserts. Peru

Over 200 varieties of potatoes are grown in Peru, ranging in size and even colour.

Did you know…? Peru Do you think this is FAIR? In Peru, mining is big business but local people find that mines can pollute their water. Many Peruvians have moved from the countryside to urban shanty towns.

We work with partners to help communities deal with water pollution, and we support training projects to help young people and women living in shanty towns to find work. CAFOD has been working in Peru since Peru

Bolivia is in South America. The capital city is Sucre. Bolivia

Bolivia has glaciers and rain forest and two thirds of the population are indigenous people. Bolivia

One delicacy in Bolivia is chuño. This is a type of potato that is dried out overnight in the cold. Bolivia

Do you think this is FAIR? Did you know…? Bolivia Lack of clean water and variety of food, especially in rural areas, leads to health problems. Girls are less likely to finish primary school.

We work with partners to help local people have a voice and speak up for their rights. CAFOD has been working in Bolivia for more than 20 years. Bolivia
