Introduction to the Food Pyramid The Food Pyramid, developed by the US Department of Agriculture (USDA), is an excellent tool to help you make healthy food choices from a variety of foods so you get the nutrients you need, and the suggested serving sizes can help you control the amount of calories, fat, saturated fat, cholesterol, sugar or sodium in your diet. It should be combined with everyday exercise. The pyramid is divided into different groups and as the group ascends the amount of food intake decreases. Below is the picture of the typical food pyramid.

 The food pyramid is actually made up of six groups. The group located at the most bottom part is the Grain group, the Vegetable and the Fruit groups follow, then at the third part of the pyramid are the Dairy and the Meat groups and at the uppermost part of the pyramid are the fats, oils and sweets.

And always remember!!! Be active and do exercise everyday!!!
