Structured Teaching Model

Structured Teaching is not a curriculum, but a Framework Within which and curriculum can be taught, at any skill level.

ADVANTAGES OF USING STRUCTURE Builds flexibility Develops independence Builds Self esteem Proactive approach to behavior

PROBLEMS WITH LACK OF STRUCTURE Disorganization can interfere with demonstration of skills and learning of new skills/concept Can causes student to be overly dependent Anxiety can interfere with learning

Anxiety + Frustration + Confusion = BEHAVIOR PROBLEMS

INDIVIDUAL WORK SYSTEM The individual work system gives the student a systematic way to approach the work that needs to be completed. The learning strategy builds independence and enables that student to generalize skills into other environments.

The work system answers 4 questions for the student… 1.How much work? 2.What work? 3.What is the concept of finished and progress? 4.What happens next?
