2. Why Pre- teach?
Research has shown that when a skill related to mathematical procedures ( or literacy skills) are pre-taught, children learn to solve maths problems (or utilize literacy skills) much faster.

3. What exactly is Pre-teaching?
This really does what it says on the box!
It is a short lesson on a specific skill taught to a targeted group of children –
e.g. equivalent fractions, converting measures,
comprehension of specific genre, teaching of unfamiliar vocabulary

Children are identified for focus groups
Children of all abilities provided with a confident and challenging start
Teachers are aware of starting points
