Carleston PTA MISSION, VISION AND GOALS

Campus Mission Student Needs ◦Provide community and well-being services to students ◦Provide well-rounded education (at least 20 special events) ◦Academic ◦Physical fitness ◦Fine Arts How can PTA assist? Reflections, Arts Chair, Fitness festivals, Health and Fitness events, Math and Science events, Reading Incentives

Campus Mission Rigorous Instruction ◦Exemplary teachers ◦Ensure teachers have all the materials needed to provide the best instruction How can PTA assist? Fund raisers to purchase items for teachers Get local businesses to support/sponsor our school with donations or discounts

Campus Mission Unwavering Professionalism How does this apply to PTA? We are the liaison between the parents and the school. We are the voice of concern to parents and teachers. We need to support our teachers and the Administration. Be professional, avoid gossip and venting about other parents, teachers, Principal, etc Any issues or problems with parents or staff should be raised (in confidence) during board meetings only Support and follow the rules of the school (no special favors)

Campus Mission Innovative Programs ◦Recruiting, maintaining and expanding new, exciting and TEK specific instructional programs beyond the classroom Outstanding Student Performance ◦Demonstrate excellence in high student achievement on state and district assessments How can PTA assist? (Board suggestions?)

Goals Be more collaborative with Administration ◦Present communication, program planning to Dr Cantu at least 1 week prior to the proposed event ◦Prefer to project all events for the entire year ◦Don’t ask for permission during an open forum Continue to build a larger PTA membership base ◦Recruit and encourage diversity ◦Provide incentives (gifts, party, etc) Actively seek membership, incentive methods

Goals Work with PTA purchasing committee to create greater alignment of school and member funding wishes ◦Have a PTA representative join the school Purchasing Committee (PTA Volunteers to join the Carleston Purchasing Committee?) Increase parent attendance on meeting nights through joint campus events ◦Standardize PTA board and Member meetings held back to back prior to campus event ◦Line up PTA events with school events ◦Minutes from previous meeting and upcoming agenda should be reviewed prior to PTA meeting ◦All Chairs to include treasurer should submit their notes/agenda via at least 3 days prior to the meeting ◦Meeting should last no longer than 30 minutes (save side-conversations for after the meeting)
