CEOS WGISS & Subgroup Meeting, Beijing, September, 2004 Introduction zAs part of its overall International Co-operation Programme in EO, BNSC is supporting a number of small study/technology demonstrators relating to OGC (and GRID): zICEDS: Integrated CEOS European Data Server (contribution to CLASP) zEMIR: Environment for Metadata and Image Retrieval zSupport for the OGC EO SIG zStudy on the relevance of OGC/GRID for GMES zStudy on Harmonisation of Met. and EO Data Formats zThese are mostly due to finish soon. zShould be able to make results available at next WGISS meeting zAlso have nrt-modis activity (part funded by ESA)

CEOS WGISS & Subgroup Meeting, Beijing, September, 2004 EMIR Environment for Metadata and Image Retrieval zProvide OGC interfaces into legacy catalogue and data archives zContinuation of GAZE (presented at last meeting) –GML Access from Z39.50 Environments zAccess to Z39.50 catalogue systems –(e.g. FGDC Clearing House, UK GI Gateway and UK NERC Data centres). zRequested data is hosted, on the fly –on OGC WMS for browse (Minnesota) –on WCS for data zUsing DeeGree WCS

CEOS WGISS & Subgroup Meeting, Beijing, September, 2004 GML from Z39.50 servers via Cadcorp GIS

CEOS WGISS & Subgroup Meeting, Beijing, September, 2004 Browse displayed via WMS

CEOS WGISS & Subgroup Meeting, Beijing, September, 2004 Data retrieved from WCS

CEOS WGISS & Subgroup Meeting, Beijing, September, 2004 Use of Deegree WCS zCurrently, limited output formats (will include geoTIFF) zSome lack of maturity, i.e. some bugs zDeeGree development team responsive to queries and bug fixing zBlurring distinction between WMS & WCS

CEOS WGISS & Subgroup Meeting, Beijing, September, 2004 NRT-MODIS System zUses Minnesota WMS for Browse zUses George Mason University WCS (contact Liping Di) zAVHRR and MODIS 1km browse data available over Internet within ~2hrs of data take. zOrdering system for Level 1b data via WCS zNeed additional data viewer for WCS output! zDemo website: –
