IN 10 EASY STEPS How to Get Good Grades

Believe in Yourself The Paradox of Performance If you are in a slump the only way to get out of it is to have confidence. Confidence is created through successes.

Get Organized Learn to use a Planner! Use it every Day! Phone Numbers for Students. Get Neat! Pack the Bag at Night! Use folders!

Manage your Time Use Class Time Wisely. Make a Study Plan. Prepare for Sabotage.

SLANT your Teachers Sit Up! Lean forward! Ask questions Nod! Track the teacher with your eyes!

Everyone likes to be liked This is a powerful tool! If you sit up they think that you are attentive and respectful! If you lean forward it sends a signal that you are interested in what they have to say! We like people who are interested in us! If you ask questions you really are listening! We like people who listen to us! If you nod….you agree with us. We like people who agree with us. If you follow someone with your eyes….it show’s your interest! How to make your Teachers like you!

Take Effective Notes Flashcards Color Coded Notes Outline Chapters Anticipate the Test

Know How to Read a Textbook The skeleton of a textbook is an outline! How to Skim! The really important stuff is darker!

Study Smart SACRED PLACE! SAME TIME EVERY TIME! ALL YOUR STUDY TOOLS ARE THERE! You don’t Quit till it’s Done!

Use Test Taking Tricks Make sure that you nail your teacher down on what exactly is going to be on the test. Write it down. If something is on the test that the teacher did not mention….object! Look at the entire test before beginning if you are allowed to do so. It is a huge advantage. Answer the questions you absolutely know cold first. Come back for the others. Be Cool! Panic impedes performance. Expect to do well.

Grace Under Pressure Do not worry. Worry will not help you to do any better. In fact, it can hurt your performance. As Yoda says, “Do or Don’t Do…..”

Get Help when Necessary Don’t Just Die on Yourself: Get Help! Find a Mentor!

SO WHAT IS IT GOING TO BE? Well there you have it!
