Marvens family moved to the United States. Marven arrived at the logging camp.

Jean Louis spoke French and English. Jean Louis had a laugh that was as powerful at his ax.

Marvens home was in Duluth. Lumberjacks cut wood for a living.

Nervous Cheerful

He had his own bedroom. He used skis to get around in the snow.

He organized the payroll. He woke up the lumberjacks.

Marven had an excellent memory. Marven was good at math.

The lumberjacks walked in the moonlight. The men looked like a pack of frantic grizzly bears.

He was lonely and missed his mother and father. He did not want to wake up the lumberjacks.

To show what the men did for entertainment. To explain why the men could not wake up in the morning.
