Highlights from Sessions Key Messages and Actions from the Round Tables

Session One- Financing for Human Rights-adoption and enforcement of appropriate laws and policies by ensuring availability of resources to attain the same Embrace new vision of development financing focusing on the philosophy of “living well” with others and in harmony with nature Need to leverage on the available resources to inform global financing for development

Session one Contd… Fulfillment of the 0.7% GNI is very essential Increase in Public Financing should be targeted at reducing inequality, poverty and hunger Need to embrace inclusive growth at all levels to attain meaningful development Need for disciplined leadership with finances in order to achieve the desired development

Session Two- Status of the FFD process The move of Finances from south to North is an issue to be discussed further in relation to illicit financial flows There is need to think through a strategy for the removal of barriers to social economic transformation Structure of the Addis Accord: Tax and Resource mobilization, Private financing, International Public Finance, Trade, Debt, Technology, systematic issues

Session Two cont’d… Negotiations should be open to allow CSOs present their cases Need to focus on politics for development by using the CSO space to reflect on the scenarios that will likely to happen while in Addis The need for a single and unified voice as CSOs during the negotiations The current state of uncertainty presents and opportunity for CSOs to influence the final outcome.

RT:1- Domestic Resource Mobilization Key Messages: Promote good governance, Fight against Capital flight, Need to reform Financial Institutions, Protection of environment, Enhance Transparency and Accountability Actions: Strengthen CSO space and capacity to engage on domestic resource discussions, Harness Human Resource capacities of Africa, Prioritize domestic debt servicing to boast local economy

RT:2- Foreign Direct Investment & International Private Flows Key Messages: Focus on Job creation, Inclusive growth, Engagement in productive sector, Imbalance of Private sector and Public sector where Government is more leaned to private sector while ignoring the public, Transparency of the multinationals Actions: Strong political engagement with leaders, Defining the role and enhance capacity of CSOs in public private partnership, Involve CSOs in the negotiations, There should clear mechanisms to strengthen the PPP

RT:3- Official Development Assistance Key Messages: Demand for timeline for the 0.7% GNI, Exit from Aid (Dependence) and with clear road maps, Transparency and Accountability for both countries and the multi nationals, Need to untie Aid, address ambiguity of Addition funds on climate change Actions: publicize, Popularize declarations and engage with relevant authorities, Kick start an African CSO process on FFD (Loose network), participation of African CSOs in the existing working groups of CPDE, Localize Action plans in various countries

RT:4- International Trade Key Messages: Self Reliance of countries, Utilize available resources in Africa for a sustainable economy, Trade Transparency, Need to have an intra Africa Market, Need for appropriate safe Guards on food security, Unconditional Aid on trade Actions: Lobby through regional blocks, Promote inter regional trade, CSOs should get involved in negotiating Trade Agreements
