LSU Center for Community Engagement, Learning, and Leadership Service-Learning at LSU There are approximately 70 service- learning courses taught each semester. Service-learning courses range from the 1000-level to the 7000-level. Service-learning courses are taught in over 35 different departments.

LSU Center for Community Engagement, Learning, and Leadership Literature and Theater Examples Drama students write scripts based on oral history transcripts and produce them for middle schools in which the stories took place. Theater students write and produce scripts that deal with community issues.

LSU Center for Community Engagement, Learning, and Leadership Math and English Example Math and English students tutor in elementary schools. Documented improvement in test scores.

LSU Center for Community Engagement, Learning, and Leadership Information Systems and Decision Sciences Example ISDS student teams design, code, test, document, and implement a software development project for Habitat for Humanity.

LSU Center for Community Engagement, Learning, and Leadership Architecture Example Architecture students work on renovations of Mabel’s Flower Shop in Old South Baton Rouge.

LSU Center for Community Engagement, Learning, and Leadership Education Example Education students develop computer- based instructional materials for Scotlandville elementary school teachers.

LSU Center for Community Engagement, Learning, and Leadership English Example Tech writing students help elementary students with reading and writing or write newsletters and grants for non-profits. These students wrote a grant that won $50,000 for McMains Children’s Developmental Center.

LSU Center for Community Engagement, Learning, and Leadership Biological Engineering Example Biological engineering students design and construct and playgrounds sensitive to human and environmental constraints.
