EEC Questions What is the distribution of child care daily published prices (e.g., mean, standard deviation, range, quartiles), statewide and within each of the regional market areas, by type of care and age group? Are there advantages to using a weekly rate versus a daily rate? Does zip code / county level data indicate that reimbursement regions currently in place should be changed to better reflect the market for early education and care services?

Child Care Centers 2008 median prices higher than 2006 median prices –infant care increased $5.75 –toddler care increased $6.04 –preschool care increased $4.03 Greatest increases in Greater Boston Lowest increases in Southeast

Family Child Care 2008 median prices higher than 2006 median prices, except for preschoolers in Northeast and Boston Increases greater for younger children –care for children under two increased $4.58 –care for children over two increased $3.25 Greatest increases in Greater Boston Lowest increases in Boston –care for children under two increased $1.50 –care for children over two stayed the same

School Age Care Average increase for afterschool care was $1.52 –Increases highest in Central and Southeast
