Presentation transcript:

How Do Animals Change as They Grow?

The learner will: Recognize that as an organism grows, its appearance may change. Sequence pictures of a frog from birth to adulthood.

Animals change in size and shape as they grow.

A frog hatches from jelly-like eggs. Most frogs lay their eggs in water. Each female lays thousands of eggs at a time.

A frog begins life as a tadpole. A tadpole has no legs. A tadpole has a tail. A tadpole looks like a small fish. A tadpole lives in water.

As It Grows The tadpole’s hind legs begin to grow. The body becomes thicker. The tail shortens. The head becomes larger.

In a few weeks the tadpole will be a frog. Adult frogs have legs. Adult frogs do not have a tail. Adult frogs live on land.

Label the frog life cycle diagram. 1.
