Questions to Consider  Why are students leaving our district?  Are we meeting the individual needs of our students?  How can we best serve our students and our community to ensure success?

“A Single High School” Community Expectations  More course offerings to students Ex: Grade 10 configuration AP Courses More courses in students area of interest  Common expectations for students Ex: Prom and Commencement, attendance, rules and expectations

 Teachers teaching in their area of expertise Creates more positive interactions between teachers and students Creates horizontal and vertical alignment  Brings a stronger sense of community and pride with a single school

 Monitoring Learning Assessment is a continuous cycle with a focus on individual student learning Measurements are put in place to ensure success of every student ○ Example: tutorial sessions within the school day, homework club

 Monitoring Teaching Assessment results are used to examine if students understand the concept and to improve instruction Common assessments are used to compare the effectiveness of assessment tools and monitor teaching progress

 Professional development Ongoing and extensive development in the areas most needed Alignment of professional development with the school goals and the culture of the school

What you can do…  To educate students takes a high level of commitment from teachers, school staff, families and the community  All roles are vital in student achievement at high levels

Points to remember along the journey  Failure is a step forward NOT backward- with every mistake comes learning therefore PROGRESS is achieved  If things were easy, everyone would do it! Hard work and commitment is essential in anything worth completing.
