Earth Charter ‘children: leaders of tomorrow

Motivation Due to the dictator of Ben Ali regime, the Tunisian society have a luck of awareness and knowledge about sustainable development, few Tunisians know about the earth charter and its principles ! Also, in this transition period in Tunisia, we need a re-building of the civil society by providing knowledge and facilitate the access to information And to ensure a future -strong -civil society, we need to start educating our children

Our Support : The Earth Charter Principle 14. Integrate into formal education and life-long learning the knowledge, values, and skills needed for a sustainable way of life. Principle 2. Care for the community of life with understanding, compassion, and love.

Actions

Step1 First Step : a training session for a selected group of youth leaders and activist ( each one representing a diffrent NGO that will endorse the earth charter, from a diffrent region in Tunisia ) This training session will be about the EARTH CHARTER and its principales

Step 2 Second Step :After finishing the training session every youth leader, will be a trainer of a small group of children ( 15 children) in a selected school of the region With the help of the teacher, children will choose a specific principale of the earth charter and they will translate it into an artistic work : a short story, a drawing, a poem

Step 3 Make a national event : bringing the children from the diffrent region together ( to erase distance an to feel closer ) and with the help of there trainer and teacher, they will present the artistic work they have done, inspired by the earth charter To encourage them, we may publish this work on th erath charter websit Earth Charter fstival in Switzland

Objectives to achieve Create an earth charter network in Tunisia : NGOs participating in the project and in the training session Having a group of youth leaders versed and proficient after the training session The coperation of diffrent generations ( adult teachers, youth and children) Contribute of the re-building of the new civil society in Tunisia the earth charter culture Contribute in building a future generation, educated on the principales of the earth charter Create an atmosphere of love and compassion between generations and between children from allover tunisia

Proposed Project Budget Step1 : 3 days of training for 24 youth presenting the 24 governorate : 1500$ Step2 : 50$ for each youth leader = 1200$ Step3 : the small festival : 1000$ Total= 3700$
