How the Congress Magic Happens: Topics! Review all ONS documents and previous Congress evaluations in order to discuss topic ideas for education platform – Strategic plan – Research agenda – Legislative issues – Environmental scan – Needs assessments – Hot issues and trends – Concerns and ideas of members/SIGs – Councils and committees

Types of Sessions Special sessions - topics vary by year – Bench to Bedside – Nominated lectureships – Mara, etc. – Joint sessions with other organizations – International sessions – Invited speakers

Poster Sessions Call for abstracts is near the end of the year Research, clinical practice, education and leadership abstracts are selected Poster sessions –two during meeting

Topic Selection Team reviews all submissions Topics that are well developed and best fit the platform and educational needs of the members and attendees are selected for presentation Using the ONS strategic plan, etc. Variety of topics including clinical, leadership, research and administration

Team Responsibilities Inviting special speakers Topic selection → coordinator notification Liaison with session coordinator Discuss coordinator responsibilities Updating coordinators with reminders

Team Responsibilities Assist and mentor coordinators with speaker selection, slide preparation, content and speaker development Attend meetings and participate in conference calls Review of syllabus slides Attend and audit congress sessions, provide support and assistance to coordinators and others when needed during sessions
