Presentation transcript:

“Walk in our shoes” Act on our issues

Broken pavements, public toilet closures, poor street lighting, unsafe road crossings, inaccessible shops; all things that discourage older people from getting out and about and increase isolation in too many of our communities. “Walk in our shoes – Act on our issues” is an activity that community groups and schools can do to tackle such barriers

“Community Community Community” Kinloch Rannoch School moved into a new propose build school 50 years ago. They wanted to celebrate with the community and encourage past pupils to join in with the celebrations

How it works Pupils, parents and community members got together in the school to make a map of their community, highlighting issues with the icon stickers and other art materials including building bricks and toy soldiers.

Lots of drawing and talking about Kinloch Rannoch

Kinloch Rannoch School scrapbook The school scrapbook highlights the fun making the maps of Kinloch Rannoch and shows the pack is particularly powerful as a tool to support intergenerational activity; bringing different age groups together

School Open day

Plan a “Walk in our shoes” event We have invited local decision makers to walk with us along the map’s route on Friday 1 st of May. The pupils will be asking everyone what action they are prepared to pledge

What is next?
