2 The SRI is Important Because: Your score determines your placement in the READ180 and/or System 44 program. Your score matches the level you will work in on the software. Your score will match the level of books you are allowed to read. Your score helps determine if you are ready to exit the program.

3 First: Log in to SRI (Use teacher-provided username and password)

4 Second: Choose Book Interests (This does not determine what types of questions you will have.)

5 Third: Take a Practice Test Third: Take a Practice Test If you race through these questions, the test will KNOW! Ask for help if you don’t understand the directions to the test. You need to wear headphones for this portion of the test.

6 Last: Take the SRI Test! The test should take at least 20 minutes to complete.

7 When taking the SRI test…. Try your best and don’t rush! Use your skips if you are unsure. (You have three SKIPS. They are located in the bottom right hand corner in an orange bar. Skipping does NOT affect your score.) If this is your second time taking the test, try to beat your last score!

8 A Reading List will pop up after you finish. Take it home or to the library!

9 Choosing a Book Take your SRI score and choose a book with a Lexile that falls in the range of: –100 below to 50 above your score Go to if you need to look up the Lexile of a bookwww.lexile.com

10 Lexile Scores for Jobs Look at this next slide to see why reading is so important! You will see the Lexile requirements for different types of jobs. Keep in mind, the Lexile of the CA driver’s test is 1,000!!
