PCDOT, Our Upcoming Construction 4 large scale improvement projects: -La Cholla. -Orange Grove. -Valencia. -Magee. 2 Transportation Enhancements: -Homer Davis Elementary. -Centennial Elementary.

PCDOT, Our Current Design Activities and Challenges Working hard to solve the utility component: -Concise and accurate information up front i.e. potholing. -Clear, accurate, and constructable plans and overall design. -Timeframes; how to integrate their schedule and activities with our time frames and milestones.

PCDOT, Our Current Design Activities and Challenges (cont.) Trying to determine best overall strategy: -Tried the drop the project on top and let them work it out method…….. -Now evaluating three other methods on three separate projects: *Hard phasing. *Integrated phasing. *Joint Trench incorporated into the project.

PCDOT, Our Current Design Activities and Challenges (cont.) Working to reduce time frames for TE projects: -Staying focused on scope from the beginning; dont stray and try to solve other problems. -Going to the appropriate level of design to ensure solutions function, and impacts, and costs are quantified. -Dedicated efforts to completing documentation phase i.e. PA, Tech Docs, CE, etc. -NO CHANGES after documents are approved! -Target is to reduce time frames to one year from NTP to Advertisement.

PCDOT, Our Current Design Activities and Challenges (cont.) Working to address the soft costs concerns: *We paid a lot, but got a lot; hard to undo what has been working! *Evaluating all aspects of engineering, environmental and community outreach. *Additional challenge in trying to address perceptions vs. reality. *Struggling to avoid impacts to plan quality, timeframes, and efficiency (minimal opportunity for VE and redesign).

PCDOT, Our Future……. Working to evaluate all projects region wide, and determine how much money can be freed up. Possibly some for Pavement Preservation plus hope to initiate design and environmental clearance efforts (up to about 30% levels) on some major corridors within the next year……. Our directors message has always been; be ready to jump when needed.
